So you don’t believe that there’s no future in politics and you’d like more proof? Well then, dear reader, you have come to the right place! Well, really, there’s no hope for you if you actually have hope in government…but hey, let’s humor!
So the City of Toronto just banned Electronic music shows on its public grounds. That’s right kids, no more EDM at the CNE! All you under-agers gotta find your underground all-ages events to get your bass on. And why did this happen?
Well, the owner of Muzic nightclub is a whiny little bitch because he’s not good enough to bring a crowd to his venue, so he’s gotta bribe and flirt with crackhead mayors and politicians to bend over to his special interests. I’m not kidding. It’s all over the news. This bastard went to Rob Ford and the administration, gave some money and support in exchange for this huge sweeping political move.
In case you’re unfamiliar, the all ages events at the CNE are the best organized, most regulated, safest in all of Toronto. There is literally no better place to host an all-ages event. It’s practically foolproof. How many people died of drug overdoses at Muzik’s events? Well that one you’ll have to find out for yourself. It’s an ugly number compared to zero.
But, yknow, f#ck that. The owner of Muzik needs to make money! Screw those kids and safety regulations and the public good and all that bullshit politicians are supposed to stand for.
Let’s drop the naivete. What do you expect out of a job that requires employees to have power as their number one priority, upon threat of getting instantly fired? What kind of personality type do you think that kind of job is going to attract? If you think anything less than major narcissistic disorder, you need to re-read the history books. If you think that maintaining or acquiring power means following the wishes of the people, you’re intellectually pre-pubescent.
The only change that ever happened in any society, came from people’s movements. Revolutions die when they become complacent. The last organization in all of society that joins a progressive movement is government. So, get real, get off your ass, and be the change you wish to see in the world. Don’t expect status-quo politics to save you.
