There’s a very interesting meme out there entitled “feminists and the real world”.
Half of it shows how many stereotypical misogynistic messages come from men where, in supposed reality, it comes from other women.
There is no mistake that many women are exacerbators of many misogynistic, patriarchy-created values. It is a very true fact that we see every day.
Sure it is Very interesting, but let’s dig a little deeper, shall we?
Isn’t it rather difficult for to see how these values did not become prevalent due to hundreds if not thousands of years of patriarchal indoctrination?
Why is there not the slightest dissonance going on here? Isn’t it really disingenuous because the meme creator seems to be mistaking cause for effect? Are women the creators of these values or are they the exacerbators? Where is the deeper thinking?
The fact that many women are still brainwashed into believing this kind of shit and use it to turn on each other doesn’t make them the the authors of such beliefs. It further proves that they are indeed victims.
Victims that suffer from a sort of stockholm syndrome, the inevitability of having to live in a society whose misogynistic beliefs are still the law of the land. Having to adopt these values simply to survive and maybe thrive.
Maybe it’s about time that the few are no longer the ones who pose these questions. Maybe it’s about time that we move into the era where such cognitive dissonance is more widespread. Sure, bullshit memes are always going to be around but it’s time that the reasons it is shared should change. Equality should no longer be a pipe dream and we should be a little more capable of recognizing victims instead of perpetrators. Feminism unfortunately isn’t the real world. It’s about f#cking time it was.
Much love,
