Hello, country of my birth, a random line drawn in the dirt to signify that within it is the property of a certain group of people with a history that’s supposedly different than any others’.
Maybe I should have left this for later, but I feel that these conclusions need to be reminded, because they’re pertinent… if not repetitive.
Dear Romania, you have a problem. You really want to be saved by politics. In spite of what you say, you trust your politicians more than your fellow human beings and that is the reason why you see all of the problems around you. Some of you already know this, but it took 23 years for a documentary to spell it out for you.
Stop complaining and stop living in the past. Stand up and trust each other enough to make some of the real change that you’re expecting the government to do for you. Remember, there is no future in politics. The last organization to ever adopt a progressive idea is a government.
I don’t prefer you to Canada and I don’t prefer Canada to you. I don’t prefer countries. They’re a terrible idea. In case it hasn’t become clear enough to the world, nationalism is not a brilliant idea either. In fact, it’s the same bankrupt concept cooked up by empires of old and used to create worse ideas that caused the death of generations of people.
This is also the reason why I predict your expulsion from the European Union. You do not know what it means to be un a union of nations because you do not know what it means to be part of the human community. You don’t understand the idea of internationalism. Your desire for your continued membership in the European Union is the same as your desires regarding your government: you wish to be saved, taken care of, pampered.
Sorry to be blunt, but not enough of your own flesh and blood are speaking out and it’s about time they did… because you’re not going to believe anyone else.
Much love,
Zen Politics
